The Vienna Boys' Choir and Girls' Choir invite you to an open day on Friday. Children and young people who enjoy singing are especially invited to learn about training opportunities at the Augarten Campus.
From 2pm to 5pm, all children and young people who enjoy singing are invited. You can discover the Augarten campus for yourself. The campus offers education in music and other academic subjects.
Education is beyond music
In addition to music and singing, the subject scope also includes ethics, religion, political law, Italian and Latin. There are workshops and trips. In addition to young artists such as Castle actor Tilman Tobe and pianist Lukas Sternath, the school's alumni also include doctors, lawyers, economists and scientists.
Studies indicate that singing trains the brain and the ability to concentrate, strengthens the immune system, and makes you feel happy. When you sing, serotonin and oxytocin are released. The singers even have synchronized heartbeats. “Singing has never been more important than it is now,” said Erasmus Baumgartner, artistic director of the Augarten Campus. To compensate, the campus also offers sports fields and its own indoor swimming pool.
Girls are also very welcome
The Vienna Boys' Choir consists not only of the four famous boys' choirs. The Vienna Choir girls have also been students at AHS on campus since September. The institution also has a primary music school and a secondary school with an emphasis on vocal music.
Open rehearsals and singing together
In open rehearsals, you can experience how the boys' choir, girls' choir and high school choir work on pieces. Voice training shows how to enhance individual voices. Campus tours are also available. At the end there is group singing for everyone – with all the choirs and visitors. If you want, you can test right then and there. Career changers are also welcome. The boys' choir can also be seen live on Monday at a benefit concert for the ORF initiative “Austria Helps Austria” at St. Stephen's Cathedral.
