Iranian ambassador slightly injured in pager explosion in Lebanon. In total, Iran has transferred 95 patients from Lebanon to Iran.
Iran evacuated its ambassador from Lebanon who was injured in a pager explosion. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday visited the head of the diplomatic mission, Mojtaba Amani, in a hospital in the Iranian capital, Tehran. There, Araghchi also asked the doctors treating him about his health. State media initially reported only that Amani had been “slightly injured” in recent days.
Iran evacuated a total of 95 patients on Wednesday. Most of the wounded had injuries to their hands and eyes. The powerful Shiite Hezbollah militia, which was the target of the blasts, is Tehran’s most important non-state ally.
According to official figures, more than 3,250 people were injured and 32 killed in the explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah group blames Israel for the blasts. (APA/DPA)
