Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati): Testing on the new Panigale/MotoGP

MotoGP world champion Francesco Bagnaia tested the new Panigale superbike as part of the preparations for Ducati World Week in Misano, and Tony Cairoli was given a driving instructor.

Over the past few days, preparations have been underway at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for World Ducati Week (WDW), which kicks off on July 26 and is attended by tens of thousands of fans. Countless current and former Ducati stars will be cheering on the tifosi in the stands at the Reds’ annual meeting this weekend.

There is no rest for MotoGP world champion Francesco “Pico” Bagnaia. Just days after his lavish wedding to Domizia in their new home of Pesaro, the Ducati champion is back on the track after winning the Misanino competition during the week, beating the master Valentino Rossi.

On Thursday afternoon, Picco got on the new Panigale V4 superbike, which has been long-awaited worldwide by Ducatisti and was unveiled on the evening of July 25. Bagnaia was doubly pleased, as he has been using current Panigale versions for years in private training sessions with the VR46 Academy on the racetrack.

Ducati Superbike legends Troy Bayliss and Carl Fogarty, who together won seven world titles for the manufacturer in Bologna, are also on the Adriatic these days.

Former Ducati racer and head of the Ducati Riding Experience Dario Marchetti played driving coach to motocross icon Antonio “Tony” Cairoli on Thursday, as he explored the race track for the first time on a Ducati street bike. It wasn’t entirely new territory for Cairoli: the nine-time champion had been allowed to drive an RC16 at the Red Bull Ring a few years earlier for his then employer KTM.
