Hr takes over for Franz Spitzer, who has moved into semi-retirement after nearly 30 years at the airport.

Since 1 January 2024, Michael Zack has headed the Handling Services division of Flughafen Wien AG and therefore all cargo, baggage and ramp handling schedules as well as aircraft de-icing. Michael Zak has been working at the airport since 2006 and has been responsible for sales, finance and cargo handling services since 2018. He now takes over responsibility for the entire handling area, succeeding Franz Spitzer, who is transitioning into semi-retirement after a career at the airport lasting nearly 30 years.

Zak has been with Flughafen Wien AG since 2006 and has already held management positions at the company as Managing Director of City Airport Train and more recently as Managing Director of Business, General Aviation and VIP Terminal. He now heads Flughafen Wien AG's largest division with 1,400 employees.

“Michael Zack has emerged as the ideal successor to head the Handling Services Department – and will continue the airport's success. At the same time, we would like to thank Franz Spitzer for his dedication and commitment to our airport, which he played a key role in shaping for many years. Vienna Airport Board Members Julian Jäger and Günther said Offner: “We wish him all the best in the new phase of his life.” Spitzer is partly responsible for ensuring that the airport is one of the most punctual in Europe.
