yDescribe Hader is one of the country’s most influential cabaret artists.

Later cabaret artist Josef Hader was born on February 14, 1962 in Waldhausen in Upper Austria. Hader grew up on his parents’ farm in Nöchling in the Melk district. He graduated from Stiftsgymnasium Melk, where he celebrated his first cabaret success with “Important Figures About Teachers in Front of Students” (© Hader). In 1985, Hader left his degree teaching German and history after his first successes in the cabaret.

In the years that followed, he worked in Austria and Germany, where he won the German Cabaret Prize in 1990. In 1993 the play “Indian” by Alfred Dorfer was shown in cinemas, and the film was one of the most successful in Austria. Between 1994 and 1999, half a million people watched his solo program “Privat”.

Hader is also wanted as an actor: between 2001 and 2014 he played the grumpy Simon Brenner, who always had migraines, from the crime novels Wolf Hass. In 2017, his movie “Wilde Maus” was released, which he celebrated for the first time as a film director.

Notably, award-winning Joseph Hader has been in a relationship with actress Pia Herziger for over a decade.
