The Upper Austrian family subsidiary Greiner (€2.26 billion in sales, 10,700 employees in 30 countries) expects another difficult financial year in 2023 – due to the energy crisis, inflation and volatile raw material prices. The plastic company is known for food packaging, such as yogurt pots, foam mattresses, and diagnostic products in the field of medical technology.
“We are very well positioned in these areas, and medical technology in particular has become an important topic during the pandemic,” says the CEO. Axel Conner. For example, tubes for Covid tests were supplied by Greiner from “Alles gurgelt”. Sustainability is a top priority for the group from Kremsmünster, Upper Austria.
“We are one of the first plastics companies in Austria to say that we need an end-of-life plan for plastic products because they have no place in our environment,” says Konner. “We have to face this responsibility, no matter where.” Greiner also wants to be a leader in renewable energies. By 2030, we want to use 100 percent of the energy we consume worldwide from renewable energies. We’ve come a long way in Austria, but there’s still a long way to go globally,” says the manager.
