The dispute centers on whether Harry, who lives in the United States, is entitled to the same protection as the rest of the royal family when he is in Britain.
According to British media reports, Prince Harry can continue his legal battle against the Home Office, with which he defends himself against changes in security precautions. The Palestinian News Agency and the BBC reported on Friday evening that he was allowed to appeal against the Supreme Court's decision. At the heart of the matter is whether Harry, who lives in the US, is entitled to the same protections as the rest of the royal family when in the UK.
The 39-year-old wanted the responsible committee's decision to be overturned. He downgraded Harry's security status after resigning from his royal duties. However, a judge rejected Harry's request in February, ruling that the decision was neither illegal nor “irrational” and that there was no procedural unfairness.
Tailor-made arrangements?
The Home Office claimed Harry was receiving bespoke arrangements. However, Harry's lawyer accused the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures of making its decision to grant Harry less protection based on an inadequate security analysis. As a result, Harry's children are not adequately protected in Great Britain.
Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan, withdrew from the royal family years ago. One reason is the way Meghan was treated by the British tabloid press. (APA/DPA)
