Prince Harry is spoiled for choice: Will the Invictus Games 2027 be held at his old home or his new home?
The Invictus Games will be held in 2027 in either Prince Harry's (39) old home of Great Britain or Harry's new home of the United States. It was May 1st Invictus Games Foundation, formerly Twitter, at X The short list of cities shortlisted to host the Invictus Games 2027 is known: Washington, DC and Birmingham.
As Lord Allen, chairman of the Invictus Games Foundation, said, both cities have “developed very different but very exciting applications.” Accordingly, the US capital is said to focus on the George Washington University campus, while Birmingham focuses on the National Exhibition Centre. They say they are looking forward to the next stage of the exam. A final decision on where the 2027 Invictus Games will be held is expected by the end of July.
Prince Harry didn't pick sides
The decision was made in a lengthy selection process – not Prince Harry's. The prince has trouble choosing between his old home and his new home. He recently admitted to People. The question is whether he's rooting for Team USA or Team Britain at the tournament. Harry's diplomatic response: “I feel a special connection with all the teams and I'm more of a supporter of the game than winning. So I don't pick sides.”
Launched in 2014, the Games for Injured and Disabled Players and Veterans has already taken place in both countries: the first Invictus Games took place in London in 2014, and the second took place in Orlando in 2016. The Games have already been held in Germany: in 2023 they will be held in Düsseldorf. The eighth edition of the Invictus Games will be held in 2027.
The next Invictus Games will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada in February 2025. This time for the first time with winter sports such as alpine skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, cross-country skiing, skeleton and wheelchair curling.
