Compared to the previous year, CD Projekt sales increased by 40 percent. The company explains that profits fell at the same time with investments in Cyberpunk 2077 and in new projects that are still in the early stages of development. The situation is different for GOG. Although the store posted a slight increase in sales of three percent, it generally fell back into the red. A profit of 27,000 euros for the third quarter of 2020 contrasted with a loss of 1.01 million euros this year.

CD Projekt does not go into the reasons for this. The omens for the store were already favourable: In addition, new AAA games, the latest Psychonauts 2 (test), are published there. Plus, there are always classics that were thought to be lost, including Star Trek games of all kinds only made in the fall. The catalog now contains a total of about 5,600 games. The group sees opportunities to grow primarily in the offering.”Brand new games“Every new post increases the popularity of GOG and increases sales. In addition, the number of user accounts is steadily increasing. Tougher competition in the store segment will prove unfavorable to these efforts.

Cyberpunk will be grown in 2022

At the same time, CD Projekt confirmed that the next generation release of Cyberpunk 2077 won’t appear until 2022 – in the first quarter. The enhanced version of The Witcher 3 will follow in the second quarter.

At the same time, the developers of the company are working on another patch for the role-playing cyberpunk game, which will appear at the same time as the release of the next generation. The latest update to version 1.31 appeared in September. An extension is also being worked out for a fee. CD Projekt has not revealed how the free DLC works. So far, only one small expansion has been launched with some clothes and another buggy.
