Nacra 17 duo are trailing in the World Cup

After the first three races of the Golden Fleet at the Nacra 17 World Championship, both Austrian boats have fallen in the overall standings. Laura Farese and Matthäus Zöchling, who celebrated their race win on the second day of qualifying, had to settle for 22nd place (the current omitted result), 16th and 15th at the start of the first group. The team now ranks nineteenth, 36 points behind the top ten. “It was a very difficult day for us: we made our decisions too late, made a lot of mistakes in general, and often did not find our rhythm with the wind – all this cost us a lot of points. There are still three chances to improve in the Golden Fleet tomorrow.” We want to use that and get everything out of it again,” sums up helmsman Laura Faris.

Their teammates Lukas Haberl/Tanja Frank are two places behind – 55 points outside the top 10 to qualify for the medal race. For the 2023 European Championship runner-up, the Golden Fleet started with individual results of 12th, 15th and 24th. “It was very difficult today: we couldn't classify the conditions well enough – I don't know what the problem was.” at the moment. In the first two races, we constantly qualified one-sided, so we had to react more with the courses. We did exactly that in the third race, but in the end we didn't do a good job. “At least we were able to limit the damage in the first two races,” says Tanya Frank. The last three Golden Fleet races are scheduled to be held on Saturday as part of the Nacra 17 competition.
