The career of Rafael Duamena is practically coming to an end. FC Blau-Weiß Linz is working to terminate the contract that runs until the summer of 2023.
The Ghanaian, who only moved to the club in League Two Admirals in the summer, collapsed on the field at the end of October during a cup match against TSV Hartberg. A pacemaker that was used because of his weak heart saved the 26-year-old’s life.
Business Director of Sports Tino Waura explains on the current “Zwarakonferenz”, the LAOLA1 podcast on the 2nd League Admiral: “There was an appointment this week when we told him and his management that it was no longer an option for us that he was playing the field for us. The risk is too great for us” .
Waora continued: “We are very sorry for him. Apart from Salzburg, you will not find a player with the quality of healthy Rafael Duamena in all of Austria. It is a shame that he probably has to consider final retirement now. He is a great man, with a fine personality. That is why the decision has become More difficult for us.”
The Ghanaian team player came eight times to Salzburg via RB Ghana, then played for Austria Lustenau before moving to FC Zurich and then to Spain to UD Levante and Real Saragossa. He was also active in Denmark at Vejle BK.
In the video, Wawra also talks about Dwamena’s future:
