Leipzig – RB Leipzig is breaking new ground in preparation for the upcoming season. The Bundesliga club moves to an overseas training camp for the first time, moving to New Jersey from July 28 to August 4. The club announced this on Thursday.
Sister club New York Red Bulls' academy serves as a base where he will be reunited with fan favorite Emil Forsberg, who moved to America in January. A friendly against Aston Villa is scheduled for July 31 (8pm local time) and the second leg is still scheduled.
“Especially with the 2026 World Cup in mind, the US is one of the most exciting sports markets in the world, and the passion for soccer is on the rise,” said sports director Reuven Schröder.

Managing director Johan Blenge said: “This is an important step for us, but also for the Bundesliga, which has a special reputation in America.”
Blench had already committed to hosting an RB training camp abroad in the summer of 2023, and the US won over venues in Asia. There was already a plan for a trip to America the previous year, but it was later scrapped.
