Washington – Republicans in the US House of Representatives, on Wednesday, nominated Steve Scalise to replace House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted last week. Scalise, 58, has represented Louisiana in the House of Representatives since 2008, and has been the Republican majority leader there since January 2023.
