Rossi was voted on this season's rookie team

Vorarlberg's Marco Rossi has been voted to the NHL's Rookie of the Season by North American hockey journalists.

The 22-year-old center received the second-most votes among forwards behind Connor Bedard, who also won the Calder Trophy for best rookie.

The second Austrian in the emerging team

Rossi is the second Austrian to be named to an NHL rookie team after Michael Grabner (New York Islanders) in the 2010/11 season. Among other things, he impressed as the second-highest goalscorer (21) among all youth players completing their first full season and won the most ties among all juniors.

Chicago Blackhawks' Bedard, defensemen Brock Faber, Rossi's Minnesota Wild teammate, and Luke Hughes (New Jersey Devils) were selected by all 192 journalists who voted.

Rossi got 145 votes, Logan Cooley (Arizona Coyotes) got 144, and the rest were already down significantly. The clear choice in goal was Pyotr Kochetkov (Carolina Hurricanes).

At the awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche) was honored with the Hart Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the season. Quinn Hughes (Vancouver Canucks) won the Defender of the Year award, while Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets) was named Goalie of the Season.
