Running – ASK Loosdorf: The Majcen runs from success to success

From Altaussee to the famous Loser Felsenfenster: seven kilometers and 1,150 meters in elevation. No problem for mountain jogger Ace Rolf Magsen. ASK McDonald’s Loosdorf athlete celebrated the 11th consecutive victory in his age group (AK 50) and thus gave himself a belated birthday present, because Majcen had turned 57 three days earlier.

“It’s great to start the new year with another win and then give myself a great Christmas present,” Magsen said. Ski jumping World Cup winner Andreas Goldberger was one of the first to wish him well. Goldie, 50, placed second in the age group behind Magen. “He ran very well,” Magen had to go to the limit to leave the number one athlete behind.

This was Majcen’s latest success. In July, he competed in the Austrian Mountain Marathon Championships in Montafon. The guy from Teesdorf needed 5:48 hours to cover 33 kilometers, 3300 meters uphill and 2000 meters downhill. Thus, he was crowned champion of Austria in the age group 55. His wife, Lan, finished third in the age group 45. “I am very happy because I was at his best at the height of the season, and I have been training specifically for this day for the past few weeks,” Magen said after this victory.

Magen had previously been victorious in the mountain running championships in Lower Austria. Rolf Magen won the title in his AK 55 at Schneeberglauf. “It means a lot to me because I was able to defeat friend and exceptional athlete Robert Glaser for the first time. After finishing second in this year’s Lower Austria Championships in the marathon and half marathon, I was finally able to turn the tables on Schneeberg for the first time,” Magen rejoiced at the success.
