In the first category for the Ensemble Award, the deaf drama ‘Coda’ beat competitors such as ‘Belfast’, ‘House of Gucci’ and ‘King Richard’. “CODA” actor Troy Kotsur (53) was also the first deaf actor to win Best Supporting Actor. The Best Supporting Actress award went to Ariana Debus (31) for West Side Story.
Ukraine support
Stars such as Lady Gaga, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Keaton attended the festive gala in Santa Monica, California. Many guests expressed support for Ukraine and condemned the Russian invasion. Keaton noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was a former actor who should now be recognized for his struggle. Michael Douglas and Tyler Perry wore pins in the national colors of Ukraine.
