EC Red Bull Salzburg completed the traditional Red Bulls salute in third place.
The ICE champions won the third-place match in Zell am See against EHC Red Bull Munich 4-2. The two teams remained goalless in their semi-final encounter on Friday.
The first team from DEL takes the lead in the Red Bull duel, with Nicolas Heggel (13th) making it 1-0. ÖEHV crack Peter Schneider (16./PP) scores the advantage after just three minutes and makes it 1:1.
Schneider scores twice
In the second division, local “Espolon” took the lead for the first time, Tyler Lewington (22) made it 2-1. This time Munich had a ready answer, as Witt Oswald (26th) equalized. Schneider (29) put Salzburg back in the lead with his second goal of the afternoon.
Oliver David's team is now defensively stable and can also count on David Kickert in goal. Luca Auer (60./EN) fires the ball into an empty Munich goal in the last minute to make it 4-2.
In the evening (7:00 p.m.) Växjö Lakers and ZSC Lions will compete with ÖEHV's Vinzenz Rohrer in the grand final for the traditional warm-up tournament win.
