Sega wants to make a great game. Sounds stupid, but that’s how it is. The first details about the so-called Super Game project were already available last November, and there was also talk of a collaboration with Microsoft. Now there’s new information posted on the Sega job portal Interview Executive Vice President Shuji Utsumi, General Manager Katsuya Hisai and Producer Masayoshi Kikuchi talk about the project.
The “super game” is part of Sega’s five-year plan, which began in 2019. What seems like a political project for the People’s Republic of China is just an attempt to harness the great potential of Sega and its brands once again for the ultimate growth. A “super game” should have four characteristics: AAA level, multi-platform version, simultaneous global publishing, and multilingualism. On the other hand, the Japanese owe us gender, date, or any other specific information.
There is information about the workforce: initially 50 people were employed in the responsible department, but Sega assumes that hundreds of people will eventually work on it. According to Kikuchi, this includes people from all areas of Sega, whether from consumers, arcade, or mobile development. If you can speak Japanese (or get help from Google), you can find out at Sega site Some additional details, for example, “super game” will be achieved with the help of Unreal Engine 5.
