Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in Kyiv this evening. Zelensky’s adviser, Oleksiy Aristovich, said in an interview on the YouTube video platform, that visitors from the United States were “talking with the president at that moment.”
According to Zelensky, the talks with Blinken and Austin revolved around US arms supplies to the Ukrainian armed forces. Aristovich reiterated that the ministers would not have come unless they were “ready” to provide more supplies. Late in the evening, Zelensky wrote on Twitter that “the friendship and partnership between the United States and Ukraine is stronger than ever.” The US State Department refused to provide any information about the flight.
The visit of Blinken and Austin coincided with the celebration of Orthodox Easter in many places yesterday despite the ongoing Russian attacks. “Our souls are filled with an intense hatred of the invaders and everything they have done,” Zelensky said, adding: “Do not let anger destroy us from within.”
