Senna on Netflix: Premieres November 29, 2024 / Formula 1

Streaming provider Netflix has revealed details about the six-part series, which will explore the unforgettable life of Ayrton Senna. The lavishly produced series will premiere from November 29, 2024.

The fascination with Ayrton Senna continues, thirty years after the loss of what many fans consider to be Formula 1's greatest driver on a black weekend at Imola.

Streaming company Netflix has now released information about the six-part series, which focuses on the life of the three-time Formula 1 world champion. In “Senna,” Gabriel Leon, 30, plays the racing driver, known in Brazil for the series “Hidden Truth” and also as a musician, and known worldwide for his role as Alfonso de Portago in the film “Ferrari.” The series also stars Matt Milla (as Alain Prost), Patrick Kennedy (as McLaren team boss Ron Dennis) and Pamela Tomei (as Senna’s girlfriend Xoxa).

Netflix says: “The series will show Ayrton Senna's journey, how he overcame obstacles, how he lived through ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and we will show his personality and relationships with his comrades.”

“The starting point will be moving to England to make his way into international motorsport from Formula Ford. We show his rise and successes until the tragic end at Imola.

The audience is very excited about the Netflix series, especially since the producers have the approval and cooperation of the Sena family.

Netflix claims to have access to previously unseen archival footage from the Senna family. The racing driver's character and close connection to the family are said to be central to the series.
According to Netflix, the film was shot in authentic locations around the world and was directed by Brazilian directors Caio and Fabiano Golan.

“Our family was determined to make this project something unique, and Netflix is the perfect partner for that,” said Ayrton Senna’s sister Viviane.
