Several states are reporting peak levels of new infections

In many countries, maximum values ​​of new infections with the coronavirus have been reported today. In Germany, for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 100,000 new infections were transferred to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. According to the RKI, health authorities reported 112,323 cases in the 24 hours this morning.

The RKI now gave the seven-day incidence of 584.4. This is also high. For comparison: the day before, the infection rate nationwide was 553.2, a week ago it was 407.5.

Omicron wave in the Czech Republic

A maximum of 28,469 new cases were also reported in the Czech Republic within 24 hours. According to previous information, more than 80 percent of new infections are likely to be due to the more infectious omicron variant.

According to the current figures, 950 new infections were recorded per 100,000 residents within seven days. The number of hospitalizations is currently much lower than in previous waves.

Reporting systems in Israel have problems

It peaked in Israel at around 71,000 new infections in a single day. The Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Nahman Ash, gave this number to Army Radio.

Recently, the Ministry of Health had problems transmitting the current infection numbers due to an overload of the system. The reason given is the sharp increase in the number of cases. According to Asch, he assumes that the peak of the Omicron wave should be reached in Israel in about a week.

Japan (about 38,000 new infections) and Brazil (about 137,000 new infections) also recorded daily increases.
