A late winner comes out in the last match of the 30th round of the Spanish League.
Sevilla clinched all three points against Villarreal thanks to a last-minute goal from Youssef En-Nesyri and celebrated their third consecutive win in all competitions after reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League.
The local Andalusians were unbeaten in four matches and climbed to twelfth place in the table. Opponents Villarreal are currently sixth and will have to accept a setback in the struggle for European Cup places.
Fatal error as a call to Sevilla
Sevilla dominated the opposition more or less for more than half an hour in the first half. Villarreal doesn’t seem to be around at times and makes a huge mistake in the 35th minute.
Safe in possession of the ball, Jeremy Pino turns his back on his teammate after a pass. Sevilla’s Suso grabs the ball, takes the pace, dribbles almost the entire field into the Submarinos’ penalty area and slots it perfectly into Rafa Mir, who hits the ball at the near post with full force (35′) – 1:0 for Sevilla.
From now on, Villarreal seems to have been shaken up. Giovani Lo Celso missed by a hair, his attempted shot in the 16th Seville went wide of the left post (40). Shortly thereafter, Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic came under pressure, but made a brilliant save when Nicholas Jackson fired into the goal from a completely unmarked position (43).
Just two turns from the pointer, the ball fell behind the line, but the video assistant referee pulled Jackson’s goal because the Senegalese was just offside (45).
“Joker” Al-Nusayri was stabbed late
Less than ten minutes into the second half, the ball is wiggling into the net. Villarreal takes a corner kick in the middle, after extending a header, the ball falls at the feet of Pau Torres, who can gratefully include it.
But the strike initially did not continue due to a possible offside situation. The VAR asks the referee to perform an on-field review. After examining the photos, Villarreal could celebrate the equalizer (57).
Yellow Submarine find their way better, taking control of the match from Sevilla and setting the course for the opening goal. Capoue tries a well-placed shot, Dimitrovic has to stretch and pass a corner kick (78′).
The final stage is completely open, both teams go into the final minutes with their eyes open. In extra time, Sevilla used a corner kick, and Youssef Al-Nesyri incomparably destroyed himself and eventually led his team to luck (90 + 4).
