Fressnapf founder and Signa investor Torsten Toeller is trying to recover at least part of the money he invested in Rene Benko's now-bankrupt Signa Group. Toler filed a lawsuit against the private Laura Foundation, which Benko founded with his mother, Ingeborg, according to the German news magazine “Spiegel” in its current issue. Toller's investment firm Fressnapf Luxembourg took advantage of the option promised by Benko to return its 4.5 percent stake in Signa Holding. However, the investment company did not receive the necessary funds for this, Spiegel reported. The counterclaim has been pending before the Commercial Court in Vienna since the beginning of August. Information indicates that Benko may be living on financial gifts from his mother, Ingeborg. His mother, a retired kindergarten teacher, benefits from two private institutions. She reportedly entered into a new gift agreement with her son months ago. According to “Spiegel”, the lawyer for the Laura Private Foundation left the lawsuit without comment, and did not comment on the donation agreement. Rene Benko's lawyer also did not comment on this matter in response to a written request from the APA.
