Winter break is over: Since Monday, the Amstedt family has been working together again on the model for the spring semester. And there will be intense weeks until February 17, when the play-off against GAK begins again: because SKU wants to do everything in its power to leave last place in the table behind and remain in the Bundesliga. “We want to bring a certain mentality into the team from the first minute of training. We don't look back, we look forward and try to change things,” explains Harald Vetter, sporting director of FC Amstetten.
The first test awaits on Saturday on the artificial turf in Neuhofen: at 2pm, the Amstetner team will take on Union Gurten from Upper Austria, which currently ranks sixth in the Central Regional League table. Vetter hopes that the team will achieve this turnaround as quickly as possible: “Of course we have something to make up for compared to the fall. We have to score, score, score and, above all, show a different face compared to the fall,” says Vetter.
Other potential liabilities
It is also possible that there will be new faces against Gorten. “We will still have one or two candidates to test in the next week or two,” Vetter says, adding: “We are keeping our eyes open to see if boosting, which is possible, can help us.”
So far, SKU has four commitments: Lukas Dinhofer, Fabian Balzer, Daniel Scharner and Stefan Radulovic. The quartet were already on the field at the SKU Indoor Masters – alongside Niels Hahn, Marko Kadlec, Dominik Wexelbraun and Tobias Pellegrini. “I thought we had a good team. The new players were able to introduce themselves and showed that they were in good physical condition and could provide input for the team in the spring,” Vetter says.
