Dusseldorf German fusion technology start-up Marvel Fusion has decided to set up its next research facility in North America. In partnership with Colorado State University, the $150 million project is expected to be completed by 2026. In an interview with Handelsblatt, Marvel CEO Heike Freund explains what’s different in America and how dangerous Europe really is in terms of the green tech scene.

Ms. Freund, Marvel has so far focused on one location in Germany. You are now building your new demonstrator in America. Why?
This demonstration enables us to be the first affiliate to have a laser system designed specifically for use in power plants. By 2026, we are working with Colorado State University to implement these. However, our main location will be in Munich. Of course we will continue our existing partnerships in Europe.
