Sony is preparing to launch at least one new Xperia smartphone on May 11th. The company has released a video teaser for the launch event, which is set to start at 1:00 PM JST (4:00 AM UTC) on the second Thursday of May. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube and is likely to frame the launch of the new Sony Xperia 1 V. flagship.
This is supported by the event-appropriate teaser video titled “The Next One Is Coming…”. The Sony Xperia 1 V has been seen in some leaks over the past few months. Accordingly, the design will not change much compared to the predecessor Sony Xperia 1 IV.
Rumors have it that the Sony Xperia 1 V will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. In addition, the upcoming Sony phone may be the thinnest phone with this processor yet. There is rumored to be a triple camera setup on the back, with a 12MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and another 12MP camera.
Sony Xperia 5 V should be charged at 33W
Also, the Sony Xperia 5V also popped off the cover, a full quarter ahead of its predecessor, the Xperia 5 IV. The Xperia 5V has been spotted in 3C certification with model number XQ-DQ72. The charging speed was 33 watts. The same model number was spotted on Geekbench back in February. The tested device also has Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 under the hood along with 16GB of RAM.
Sony Xperia 1 usually releases between May and August, while the Xperia 5 follows between September and October. We can’t go wrong with an earlier start.
