Stage designer Hannes Rader is exhibiting at The Theater Gallery

Renowned theater designer Hannes Rader is currently exhibiting his drawings and works at the Klagenfurt Theater Gallery. The show makes a foray into Rader’s business over the past few decades. He has built more than 300 sets over his career.

The theater gallery at the Stadtgalerie Klagenfurt frequently displays exhibitions in its premises that have a strong connection to theatre, theatre, and acting. Currently, some of the works of well-known stage designer Hannes Rader can be seen in the theater gallery. From 1972 to 1992 Rader was Head of Design at the Klagenfurt City Theatre, and during his career he staged several European plays and greatly influenced a number of productions with his artistic style.

“The exhibition shows theater lovers, but also all those interested in the art, the remarkable way of how a stage design can be created – from the sketch to the actual construction, which is finally seen by the audience.”
City council member mag. Franz Petritz

“Hannis Rieder has unparalleled success in illustrating the ideas of authors, directors and conductors. Drawing and performing sketches is an art in itself, and we can see it thanks to the impressions provided.”
Curator Guenter Schmidor

Works survive beyond theatrical production.

For Hannes Rader himself, the exhibition is an honor: “I am very happy that, after 31 years no longer working at the Stadttheater, I can show my work again.”
