Stars of the podcast scene delight audiences at sold-out theatre

From 2.30pm on Saturday the slogan at the Graz Schauspielhaus was 'prick your ears'. For the second time since 2023, stars of the state capital's local podcast scene wowed nearly 500 visitors — and on two stages. Highlight one follows the next. Actors Simon Schwarz and Manuel Ruby kicked off the main stage with the humorous podcast “Schwarz and Ruby.”

Barbara Haas had comedian and author Julia Brandner as a guest on her feminist radio show “Fair & Female” and talked with her about the topic of having children — or not.

Maximilian Ratzenbock became an athlete for “Dusted off – the Kleine Zeitung's football podcast”. Former pro Michael Lendl, who ended his highly successful career last summer, was a guest. In an article titled “WTF, America?”, Klein Zeitung editors Julian Melichar and Tobias Kurakin once again discuss what to expect in the upcoming US elections.

Listeners were able to immerse themselves in the world of global economic developments with Eva Weissenberger, Head of Communications and Marketing at WKÖ, and her podcast “LOOKAUT External Trade.” Meanwhile, Sonia Kraus, health editor at Kleine Zeitung, hosted Fritz Fuhrer as a guest on the main stage, who appeared with her in “Is It Healthy?” – The medical podcast “Kleine Zeitung” talks about nutritional myths.

The finish in the second stage went to cabaret artist Thomas Maurer and Thomas Schick of the newspaper Klein Zeitung's editor-in-chief with the satirical podcast “Maurer and Schick”. On the main stage, guests enjoyed the book “The Worst Guide to Living in Austria” by Jacob Moss (journalist and advertiser) and Gabriel Schaeffler (radio producer and cultural journalist). The special thing about this duo: one of them speaks English on the podcast and the other speaks German.

A total of 20 podcasters entertained, inspired and gave hundreds of visitors a good time over two stages. If you missed one of the Kleine Zeitung Podcast Festival in Graz, no problem. Another edition is scheduled to be held in Vienna in 2024 (date to be announced later). We can also expect more festivals in Klagenfurt and Graz next year.
