Over two million players have now played Enshrouded in Early Access on Steam. This is of course a huge success for the survival game from the small German studio Keen Games. But it's clear that the developers don't want to rest on their laurels.
They're now announcing a variety of new content across the roadmap, from small improvements to complex new features – and In my opinion, this shows how much they understand early access.
Strong start
Enshrouded was an incredibly good deal when it was released. The Survival game costs only half the cost of the Triple A game It actually offers a lot of high-quality content: In the huge world I can discover many interesting places and stories, the comprehensive building system is the best I know from survival games, and thanks to the skill system you can try different playing styles.
Briefly: There is an excellent foundation on which developers can build. This is exactly what I expect from a good Early Access game.

Fast and good
Only about seven weeks after release, the developers are now showing off their big roadmap. While in some other games in early access, nothing happens for months or the developers don't clearly communicate their plans, Enshrouded takes a different approach.
The time following release was used to listen to players' opinions. Minor issues have been resolved through updates, and fans can see them on the official website Vote on future features.
Now the roadmap offers a wealth of exciting new content, All of that should find its way into the game this year:
Fans' greatest wishes must come trueSuch as weather system, animal husbandry, lakes and rivers. Developers not only blindly follow players' requirements, but also agree with them According to his own statements With their own vision of the game.
The result is useful expansions to the game in a wide range of areas. I'm particularly excited about these three planned innovations:
- A more vibrant world: Although exploration in Enshrouded is fun, the world feels a bit static at times. The roadmap promises enemy patrols and world events to make the world feel more alive.
- More variety: Not only will the game world be expanded with new biomes in terms of diversity, but new enemies and bosses will also be announced. As someone who loves to explore, this makes me especially happy.
- Build a better base: I really enjoyed building in Enshrouded. Now the developers promise more great features. Among other things, there will be new building materials, rounded windows and doors (for your hobbit caves), and potted plants. I can also populate my forts and villages with NPCs and new farm animals like goats.
Although there are no specific dates for the upcoming updates yet, there should be One of them is in March To spread. Most of the features are also timely Next few updates
planned, while some major innovations are just yet to come Later this year
you have to come.
So, if a lot of new content comes out in the next few months, I think that will be very impressive for such a small development team.
In my opinion, Enshrouded is on its way to the throne of the genre. Not only do the developers listen to players, they also let you take a look at the cards and all the fans will know what they can look forward to. There really isn't a much better way to design early access and secure community trust.
Now Survival must prove it can satisfactorily deliver on its promises. I'm really looking forward to the next few months! You, too? Feel free to write it to me in the comments!
