HC Pustertal tied the series in the quarterfinals of the win2day ice hockey league against Fehervar AV19!
The “Wolves” also won the second match at home within 24 hours against “Toffel” 2-1 and moved to 2-2 in the best-of-seven series. A late goal from Egy decides a close exchange.
As expected, the match was very tense from the start. The home team once again started with more scoring chances, but once again were unable to convert them into anything worth counting.
Two goals in the majority
The Wolves' first power play due to a poor goalie check from Ambrus to Smith also came to nothing. The visitors from Hungary also have some chances, but they cannot shine with their initial quality as they did in the previous match on Thursday. Thus, the first half entered without goals.
Things are also close in the middle third, with chances for both teams. However, the second penalty kick for the guests in the 30th minute was considered too much, because “Wolves” could make it 1-0 on the power play with a powerful shot from Betain (28/PP1).
A late goal from Ege knocks out Fehervár
The home team then played big and made Petan 2-0 ahead (33 minutes), but wasted a slim chance. So the Hungarians continue it and also reward themselves with the advantage: Laberge acts quickly when moving to the left and slides to equalize with the 'Devils' (37/PP1). So it's still a tie after 40 minutes.
The final section is also close, with both teams alternating periods of pressure and opportunities to take the lead. After a long back-and-forth, the home team took the lead in the final minutes: Ige was brave on the right of the blue line and scored past Roy to make it 2-1 in favor of the 'Wolves'.
After that, the “devils” try everything, but defeat is still certain. This means that Pustertal draws the best-of-seven series and makes it 2:2. The fifth match will be played next Monday in Fehervar (from 7:15 p.m.).Live tape >>>).
