With the change of teams, the game changed, and Florentina Satra & Co. were now much better at the game and were able to define their own accents. Initially, with a rather tentative approach to the goal through shots from Moser or Verena Volkmer, the Violets later became more realistic. And they got the equalizer they deserved: Antea Pattarello won the duel and saw substitute Emily Schäfer, who in turn sent a perfect cross to Lena Trendel when she entered the penalty area – 1:1 (74th place)!
Above all, it was the substitutes who brought a breath of fresh air to the Austria game. While Sparta Prague threatened only once in the second half, just before the equaliser when Nadine Hinterberger responded strongly, the Purple Ladies had a chance to win in the end. After a normal situation, Karina Weninger and Alisa Zelekina caused some danger, but in the end the draw was fair.
Almost exactly on this day last year, Sparta Prague Violets conceded a 3-0 defeat at Retz.
Stephen Kenesy“We were facing a very dominant opponent in the first half, but we held up well and didn’t let in too much at the end. After the break, we were noticeably better in the game and gained a lot of new energy with our substitutions. The end “The 1-1 draw was good in a very intense test today. Sparta are very strong physically and have a high level of football in all positions. We are very happy that we were able to maintain our level as a team.”
