After owners of the first Surface Duo received the November update, and thus important Android security updates, the new Surface Duo 2 is now following suit. Just like its predecessor, the 84.41MB update does not bring any other innovations or fixes. According to insider reports, not only will Android 11 finally be released for the original duo next month, but a more comprehensive patch for the Surface Duo 2 will also be rolled out.

Address scenarios described in the Android Security Bulletin – November 2021. |
As Windows Central’s Zach Bowden reports, a major update for both Surface Duo generations will be rolled out in December.
Android 11 is now officially ready for the first duo and is now finally being internally tested. 2nd generation users can also look forward to a slightly bigger update, which should have several fixes in its baggage. Although the second generation of the small dual screen surface is more stable than the first, there are still some minor bugs and issues with touch gestures here and there. New functions, including pen notes directly on the lock screen, are already planned, but won’t appear until next year at the earliest.
The new Surface Duo 2. Two screens. Double the odds. Now with ultra-fast 5G network and a dynamic three-lens camera. New dual screen experiences for Microsoft 365 and every Android™ app await you in the Google Play Store. Two screens bring a whole new dimension to multitasking.
