Visually, the new Swift can easily be considered a facelift: the Japanese have “only” subtly revised the design of the smart compact car. The distinctive appearance has been retained. New features include: The one-piece high-gloss black radiator grille dispenses with the Suzuki S, which has moved to the painted area between the radiator grille and the hood; Revised headlights with new daytime running light signature; Instead of hiding in the C-pillars as before, the rear door handles are now clearly visible on the door panel; Colors: Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic and Cool Yellow Metallic.
The design is clear, the 2024 Swift makes a great impression. The Japanese are proud: “The new Swift exudes self-confidence and a sense of adventure!”
And the interior? Inside, the Suzuki, which is still less than four meters long, offers a two-tone dashboard with satin surfaces and a driver-centric cockpit. There is a 9-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard, which can also be used to display smartphone content via Apple Carplay and Android Auto. In conjunction with the Suzuki Connect app, the user can view the vehicle's current location and be notified via geofence if the vehicle leaves certain areas. The app also provides information about recalls or inspection intervals.
When it comes to engines, Suzuki spares customers the pain of choice: there is (for now?) only one. New 1.2-liter engine with 12-volt mild hybrid system. The three-cylinder engine has 84 hp, giving it a top speed of 170 km/h (where permitted). The Japanese claim a minimum consumption of 4.6 liters (according to WLTP) for the front-wheel drive variant with manual transmission (also available with all-wheel drive and CVT automatic transmission on request).
Last but not least, there is the issue of safety: cameras can be found in the front and interior area, allowing for a more comprehensive arsenal of assistance systems. The upcoming Swift offers collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, cross-traffic warning, as well as blind spot and lane keeping assist. The interior camera monitors the driver: if he shows signs of fatigue, the on-board system warns him to take a rest.
New: Suzuki Swift
