Former Salzburg and Rapid striker Taxiarchis Fountas has been playing for Trabzonspor since the summer of 2023. His results in the 2023/24 season: six goals and two assists in 35 official matches.
The Greek is currently on the sidelines in Turkey. In the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League against SK Rapid, Fountas was not registered for Trabzonspor. The 28-year-old was also not considered for the first leg of the Conference League qualifier against FC St. Gallen.
The striker's contract runs until 2025. Given the current lack of interest, a move this summer does not seem unrealistic. This could lead to a return to Austria.
A new striker must come in, and four players must leave at the same time.

Fontas has already played for Red Bull Salzburg, FC Liefering, SV Grodig and SKN St. Pölten. He had his most successful spell at SK Rapid with 45 goals in 91 competitive matches. Will a move to Wolfsberger AC now follow?
as “Crown NewspaperReports indicate that the “Wolves” are still looking for a striker. The name of Fountas is said to have been mentioned. The attacking player would therefore not exactly fit the profile and salary scale, but he knows the current Wydad coach Didi Kobauer from his time together in Hütteldorf well.
Carinthians may also be willing to part ways with one or two players. Scott Kennedy and Florian Rieder – who WSG Tirol and SV Sandhausen are likely to show interest in – are said to have suggested a change.
Thorsten Röcher and Konstantin Kerschbaumer are also no longer playing a role, but their contracts have not yet been terminated.
