Taylor Swift is now Dr. h. c.
Taylor Swift has already won a few Grammy Awards, American Music and various entries in the Guinness Book of Records – now a Ph.D. has been added. At its Class of 2022 graduation ceremony, New York University (NY) honored the singer with an honorary doctorate on Wednesday. Swift, who was a country musician from a young age, and therefore did not go to school, had long hoped for an academic title. “I want an honorary doctorate because Ed Sheeran has one and I feel like he looks down on me because I don’t have one,” she told Vogue six years ago — not meant to be so serious — in a survey. Sheeran, shorter than Swift, has just received his Ph.D. from the Suffolk University campus in Ipswich, UK, “for his outstanding contribution to music”. At New York University in Manhattan, with more than 55,000 students and is the largest private university in the United States, the 32-year-old singer (“blank space”) appears to have a huge fan following. Last semester, the college’s Clive Davis Institute gave a seminar on Swift’s accomplishments and impact on country and pop. The waiting list for the Honorary Doctorate of Arts symposium, as Swift is allowed to call himself since Wednesday, is said to have been one of the longest in NYU history. (Verse.)
