Exactly a decade ago, the new Praise God was introduced, and since then the initial printing has grown from 3.6 million copies to an impressive seven million copies, a diverse and comprehensive model of success.
Exactly ten years ago, a new praise to God was introduced by the bishops of Germany, Austria and the Diocese of Bosen-Brixen. This prayer and hymn book replaced its predecessor from 1975 after nearly 40 years and has become a landmark in history.
Bishop Dr. Stefan Ackermann, Chairman of the Liturgical Committee of the German Bishops’ Conference, confirms that the total circulation now reaches about seven million books, after 3.6 million copies were printed for the first edition alone. Praise be to God is available in 30 diocesan and diocesan editions with about 115 different versions, including in plain language.
This joint work of 37 dioceses presents a rich collection of songs, prayers and liturgical texts for the church year in some 1,200 pages. Bishop Ackerman emphasizes the successful combination of regional and local, old and new, contemporary presentation, practical relevance and clear concept that makes Alhamdulillah a unique model of success.
Praise God is not only a book of worship and faith, but also a resource for shared celebration of the liturgy and a companion on your personal faith journey. Those interested can order options on the Catholic Bible Works website at www.bibelwerk.shop/gotteslob.
