Tennis – Tim still hopes to start the US Open

“The healing process in the wrist is very positive, definitely better than expected,” Tim wrote on his blog.

Tim had a small tear in the tendon sheath in Mallorca and also in the capsule around the tendon sheath, as identified a week ago. Since then, a forearm splint has to be worn for another two weeks. “Being in New York as the defending champion would be a dream. But I shouldn’t be disappointed if that doesn’t work out,” Tim told his fans.

He really enjoyed his second visit to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg, especially the great atmosphere. “The whole stands looked very ordinary,” said Thiem. “An incredible atmosphere created above all by thousands of fans from Holland. Once again I saw how good the feeling of the sport is.” Not only him, but many of his tennis mates have suffered from ghost games, lack of atmosphere and the necessary “bubble” since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
