Monaco. The draw for the 2024/25 Champions League group stage will take place in Monaco on Thursday 29 August. Although the broadcast is not being broadcast on free-to-air television, it is still available for free via live streaming.
With Bundesliga champions Sturm Graz and play-off winners Red Bull Salzburg, Austria has two teams in the Champions League for the first time. What’s special: This year’s season marks the start of a new format for the top division. Instead of different groups, teams will compete in a combined league this year – with a total of 36 teams represented this season.
New look
Each team plays against eight opponents, two from each of the four pots. There are no return matches. The eight best teams qualify directly for the round of 16, while teams placed 9th to 24th must play in an intermediate round to stay in the competition. For all the teams behind them, the European adventure is over, and there is no more relegation to the Europa League.

The draw for the 2024/25 Champions League season, in which Salzburg will be drawn from third place and Sturm from fourth place, can be watched live in Austria from 6 p.m. on PayTV channel Sky Sport Austria 1. The draw – which is being held on a computer for the first time – is also available for free via live streaming on the Sky Sport Austria website and in the associated app, which can also be accessed without a subscription.
The draw will take place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, where legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo will also receive a prize on the sidelines of the event. The first round of the league stage kicks off on September 17.
