The Confessor asserts that he has multiple endings

Avowed was actually one of the first games ever announced for the Xbox Series We finally got our first proper look at it in June, during Xbox Live Developer Last month, we received a long presentation that included a lot of gameplay.

We've received a lot of new information since then, with Obsidian Entertainment now looking more than willing to tell us about Avowed ahead of its planned release later this year. In conversation with IGN Game director Carrie Patel took the opportunity to tell us a little about the adventure's ending – or perhaps we should say the ending: “I mean it's an Obsidian game. What would we be if we didn't have some different endings?”

She went on to explain that the way you play the game and interact with other characters determines the outcome of your journey through the Living Lands:

“You have to approach it with a certain degree of scope, both in terms of the prevalence and location of those consequences and the nature of those consequences. Some things have to have surprising but believable consequences. If everything goes exactly as you expect it to, you might get a little bored.”

At the same time, not every endeavor has to have apocalyptic consequences. Some of them certainly have a big impact on the characters in the world around you, but sometimes the story you're experiencing is just a very personal story to the characters involved. That's good too.”

I confess

The idea is to make the story your own, something we know Obsidian Entertainment is very good at if you look at previous RPGs like Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and even South Park: The Stick of Truth. Patel continued:

“I think the great thing about RPGs is that there's a lot of room for that expansion in terms of tone and style and scope and type of content. And so you're giving players a big world in which they can have a lot of different experiences that all add in one way or another to their experience as the hero of that game.” “

We still don't have a release date for Avowed, but it looks to be an interesting RPG with some new ideas, including combat where you can dual-wield weapons and magic, as well as quickly swap gear with the push of a button. You can read more about what it has to offer and watch the latest trailer here.

I confess
Avowed will be released later this year for PC and Xbox and will be included in Game Pass.
