The Czech Republic is receiving eight military helicopters from the United States

The US is handing over eight used military helicopters to its NATO ally, the Czech Republic. According to Czech Defense Minister Jana Chernozová, this was agreed in Washington in April.

This was announced by Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernosova on CT public television Thursday evening. The US Embassy in Prague later confirmed their information to the messaging service Twitter.

Accordingly, there are six Bell AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters and two Bell UH-1Y Venom multi-role helicopters. However, the Czech Republic will have to bear the costs of modernization and transportation.

Twelve new helicopters

The government in Prague had earlier decided to buy twelve new helicopters from this American series worth about 592 million euros. The machines should arrive from next year. Among other things, they will replace old Mil Mi-24 helicopters of Soviet design, which the Czech Republic has meanwhile handed over to Ukraine, according to media reports. Officially, the Prague government has not commented on the details of the arms delivery to the Eastern European country attacked by Russia.
