Since the end of June, the 61-year-old has been subjected to numerous allegations of brotherhood and friendliness, mainly through reports from the online broker Business Insider. She has served as President of ARD since the beginning of the year and Director of RBB since 2016. She has resigned from both positions.
At the center of the scandal is the summoned director and the resigning chairman of the RBB board, Wolf Dieter Wolf. Both denied the allegations. Among other things, it concerns the controversial consultancy contracts for the RBB construction project, and the agreements between the two regarding salary and bonuses for Schlesinger. And about jobs for husband and former Spiegel journalist Gerhard Spurl at the Berlin Exhibition Center – where Wolff was also the chief supervisor until recently.
All three are investigated by the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office for breach of trust and acceptance of benefits. It is a presumption of innocence. An external investigation into a law firm is also underway. No results available yet.
