RPG fans are eagerly awaiting the supposed epic The Elder Scrolls VI. That's still a ways off, but in the meantime there appear to be the first executable versions of the game internally.
We already know from Bethesda that the release of The Elder Scrolls VI is still a few years away and won't happen anytime soon. At least there is now a bit of new information that gives more hope that things are really moving forward.
Marking the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls, Bethesda has now spoken out about the role-playing franchise via social media. This takes a look not only at the past, but above all at the future as well.
“Last but not least: yes, we are continuing to work on developing the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls VI,” the post concludes, before confirming that there are now also the first executable versions of the RPG that we hope will be a lot of fun. “Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing the early editions continues to fill us with joy, excitement, and the promise of adventure,” said the creators of The Elder Scrolls VI.
In short: Even if the game's release is still years away, it's at least good news for fans of the series that things seem to be moving forward. The sequel was originally confirmed at E3 2018, but the development work itself only gained momentum later because Bethesda initially focused on the sci-fi saga Starfield.
The Elder Scrolls turns exactly 30 years old today, March 25th. On this day in 1994, The Elder Scrolls: Arena was released, the first title in the popular series. Since then, TES has continued to evolve and grow and have a lasting impact on the role-playing genre.
