Before the CityBasket game in Salscotten
The freshman from America is still waiting
Time to study
A new American is currently being tested – but it is questionable whether he will already be used when CityBasket’s first regional league players travel to Salzkotten on Saturday.
Zach Hinteren is 29 years old and 2.03 meters tall. He has been training since the beginning of this week. “Zach is a very open guy and a team player,” reports American-based coach Dnesh Gupendrarajah, who was on international duty in Colombia, Canada and Saudi Arabia before ending up in Europe.
“However, it is questionable whether it will work by Saturday with a residence and work permit. That is why we should not plan with him for the Salzkotten game,” sporting director Georg Klein said on Thursday (September 7).
Neither the Cabriolet nor the Sadio
In Salzkotten, Citibasket will have to do without Leonard Cabrolat (unable to play alone) and Djibril Sadio (patellar tendon problems). After an opening win against Telekom Baskets Pan II a week ago, Salzkotten now faces an easier task.
On the first day of the game, the newcomer lost 75:77 to the famous TTV Basketball Koln, and the Tomstad team scored the decisive basket six seconds before the end. “And let’s not kid ourselves about the fact that Salzkotten only made four of 21 three-point attempts,” Kupendrarajah clarifies. Keith Royal Hayes is the focal point for the hosts, having contributed 27 points in the start in Cologne. Dainius Zvinkilis and Jacob Muller both hit double digits early in the season.
