The Golden State Warriors sniffed their opening win in Game One of the NBA Finals for a long time, but they left the floor losing after a stunning fourth quarter for the Celtics. But that doesn’t seem to worry anyone in the camp yet.
“I think we were late, but they shot at the end,” said Draymond Green after the Warriors’ 108:120 defeat in the first game. “We controlled the first 41 or 42 minutes of the game. Everything was fine with us.”
“We will find ways to get rid of all three of them,” the 32-year-old added. “They scored 21 three-pointers and of those 15 went to Marcus Smart, Al Horford and Derek White. They’re good shooters but they put together 15/23 from these guys… so you know we’re fine.”
In the fourth quarter alone, Boston sank 9/12 from distance. The division went to the guests at 40:16, which turned a 15-point deficit over the third quarter. “For 42 minutes we did enough to win, but basketball doesn’t work that way,” said Stephen Curry, the Warriors’ top scorer (34 points).
“They moved the ball really well and kept us on our toes. Their push at the start of the fourth quarter was really good and then they didn’t give up the momentum. It’s going to be hard to beat Boston when they sink,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr, 21 three times, said.
