The new iPhone 15 is said to have a titanium frame and a USB cable

The countdown to the annual fall highlight for tech lovers has begun: Apple has invited people to its traditional event on September 12, where the new iPhone is usually presented. As always, there’s no official information beforehand, but insiders have already cobbled together a number of details about the iPhone 15 in the rumor mill:

• Four models are expected again: iPhone 15, Plus, Pro, and luxury versions iPhone 15 Pro Max, and sizes should not change compared to the previous iPhone 14; The screen dimensions are 6.1 and 6.7 inches.

• The design remains essentially the same as the 14. However, the higher quality Pro models are said to have a titanium (formerly stainless steel) frame. This makes the devices lighter and more powerful.

You no longer need your Apple charging cable

Perhaps the most noticeable change concerns the charging cable connection: according to MacRumors insiders, the iPhone 15 comes with a USB-C jack. Apple’s Lightning connector and the need for a special charging cable for the iPhone would be historic. In the future, it will also be possible to borrow a cable from an Android smartphone user to charge an iPhone. The US tech giant must therefore complete the switch to USB even before the European Union prescribes standardized cables for mobile phones in Europe from the end of 2024.

A new color for the must-haves: Pink Barbie!

• As every year, the cameras will be upgraded. The standard 15 and 15 Plus models also get a 48MP main camera. It must be revolutionary with the luxury device iPhone 15 Pro Max: here the camera must be equipped with a periscope lens for a very powerful zoom.

• iPhone 15 users will have to get used to muting the device: the traditional toggle on the side should be gone and silent mode should be activated via a virtual action button in the future.

• There is a lot of speculation about the colors of the new iPhones. According to reports, there should not be a gold version anymore. The base 15 and 15 Plus models are said to come in black, green, blue, yellow, and – look out, Barbie! – pink. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be available in navy blue, silver, black and space gray.

• Regarding iPhone 15 pricing, there are increasing rumors that the Pro models will become more expensive again. There is talk of up to 1,600 euros for the smallest version of the iPhone 15 Pro Max (the predecessor 14 Pro Max was available at 1,449 euros). If there is no increase in the base iPhone 15 model, it could cost from 999 euros as the 14.

• When will iPhone 15 be available? It is very likely that pre-orders will begin on the Friday after the presentation, that is, September 15th. The first devices could then be delivered as early as September 22nd.
