traffic movement
On Sunday, the new train timetable for the next 12 months will come into force across Europe. ÖBB offers travelers new destinations and additional connections – in Styria this is especially true for local transport.
At Ennstal in particular, there is now an extra morning and evening train connection to smooth out the morning and evening peaks.
In long-distance traffic, the Federal Railways now offers an increased range of services between Graz and Linz. But international overnight traffic to the south will also be expanded: From May to October, EuroNight will run three times a week from May to October instead of just twice a week to Split on the Croatian Adriatic coast. Nightjet’s daily flights from Bruck or Leoben to Milan to Genoa will be extended with the schedule change.
Significantly more bus connections
The new ÖBB timetable also includes more bus connections: in the winter months there is again a “Snow Express” four times a week from Graz to Tauplitz and to Bad Mitterndorf. From December 27 – during the entire Christmas holidays – the Snow Express runs daily; This also applies to semester holidays and Easter. In the future, an IC bus will link Graz and Klagenfurt at peak hourly times – with up to 14 connections in each direction.
Club passengers are basically satisfied
The new ÖBB schedule is generally welcomed by the interest group of Styrian travelers: With “Traveler” you can see a positive trend towards a more dense offer on Styrian railways.
However, it is unfortunate that individual travel time extensions in the range of minutes could lead to a loss of connections in Graz in the future – passengers will then be referred to the following links, which will increase the usual travel times on single routes by up to 30 minutes depending on the Styrian passenger.
