This summer, BVB will not be preparing for the new season in Switzerland as usual. There is a promotional tour to America for this, which is worthwhile, especially from a financial point of view.
For the first time in eleven years, Borussia Dortmund will not travel to Bad Ragaz for pre-season, which has nothing to do with the training conditions there. In Switzerland, the black and yellow regulars were always more than satisfied, but this year there are other plans.
From July 24 to August 4, BVB is on the road in America. Last season’s Bundesliga runners-up did a lot of traveling: Dortmund will have to travel a lot by plane, as they have to travel to all three major cities: San Diego, Las Vegas and Chicago.
Above all, the program has attractive test matches. After first meeting USL Championship side Loyal FC in San Diego (July 28), they play Manchester United in Las Vegas (July 31) and Chelsea in Chicago (August 3).
However, friendlies are not the reason why BVB make such a trip. In the end, quick cash may have played a decisive role in putting yourself in front of many international fans and thereby increasing the club’s brand presence elsewhere: Loud Picture Collect Dortmund to stay in America A total of five million euros.
BVB managing director Carsten Kramer, who engineered the deal, proudly explained: “It’s no coincidence that Bayern Munich and us are the two clubs that regularly travel abroad. We are happy to take on our responsibility for the league.”
The 54-year-old hopes other Bundesliga clubs will win more international fans and ensure the league is more marketable: “With the trip to Asia in November, we’re the only Bundesliga club to have played in the last twelve. The tour has gone twice a month. If we’re not the only clubs with Bayern for a long time will be good.”
