Bangalore U.S. Trade Secretary Gina Raymondo has warned that Chinese companies opposing US sanctions against Russia could be targeted by export restrictions.
Raymondo said such companies, which continue to supply semiconductors and other advanced technologies to Russia, could be barred from US-made equipment and software. The New York Times published an interview on Tuesday. In particular, the politician named Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC), China’s largest chip company.
SMIC has already been blacklisted by the US Department of Commerce, making it difficult for US suppliers to do business with the company. The U.S. government is threatening to add more companies to the list if it violates export restrictions against Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine.
