After the European Union and Great Britain, the US government also announced sanctions against a number of Russian oligarchs.
The White House said Thursday that victims would be cut off from the U.S. financial system and any property would be frozen.
Selfish groups are also allowed in the United States
The statement added that the victims would continue to support Russian President Vladimir Putin “despite the brutal occupation of Ukraine.” In addition to oligarchy and their relatives, sanctions are affecting Putin’s inner circle, such as the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“Governments in the United States and around the world” will work to identify and freeze the assets of the Russian elite and their family members. It’s about their boats, luxury apartments, finances and other illicit gains. The U.S. government has announced entry restrictions against 19 oligarchs and their families.
Spreading false information
The White House said seven Russian organizations responsible for “misinformation” would be added to the embargo list. In this context, 26 people in Russia and Ukraine who played a key role in these organizations will be prosecuted. They spread false information that the Kremlin wanted to use to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden has already threatened sanctions against oligarchy close to Putin in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday. “The United States is working with European allies to locate and seize their boats, their luxury homes and their private jets,” Biden said.
