D.The United States, Japan and South Korea have shown readiness to negotiate disarmament with the communist country even after testing new naval missiles in North Korea. US Ambassador to North Korea Chung Kim said after a meeting with his colleagues from South Korea and Japan in Tokyo on Tuesday that the recent developments in the People’s Republic were a reminder of the importance of close coordination between the three countries. A U.S. government spokesman has previously said: “Our position on North Korea has not changed and we are ready to intervene.”
North Korea conducted long-range missile tests over the weekend. The state news agency KCNA reported on Monday that the rockets had landed in the country’s maritime border after 1,500 kilometers as planned.
The United States, Japan and South Korea want North Korea to drop its nuclear weapons. The communist country was subject to numerous obstacles to the development of its nuclear ambitions and missiles. North Korea has shown readiness to negotiate, but so far there have been no sanctions because the United States has not eased sanctions.
